Facade 3D Prints
Attention: Shapeways - the 3D printing service I was using to print the facade models - declared bankrupsy on July 2nd 2024.
While the European branch of the company has started back up, the American division is still closed, so these models can't be purchased at this time. Sorry for the inconvienence.
These facade elements are 3D printed in hard flexible nylon material
These highly detailed facade (frieze) elements are accurate reproductions of the beautiful
neo-classical design that graced the roof of the old ballpark from 1923-1973. As some of you stadium aficionados may know, there were two types of facade elements used;
long elements, used on the straight sections of the roof and short elements, used on the curved sections.
You can add flag poles and flags - not included as part of the 3D print process.
Offered here are the long facade elements (I'm still working on the short facade elements). These are 3D printed from my 3D models, by Shapeways and are sold in kit
form, consisting of vertical stanchion elements that anchor the longer trellis parts together and also serve as mounting points to a wall, bookshelf, or table top mount (see below for mounting examples).
You can make your facade as long as you please (the maximum number of consecutive straight sections on the old stadium roof was 7).
Due to limitations of the 3D printing process, the flag poles and flags that were mounted on the stanchions are not included, but instructions on how to make these are available here.
You will need to have one more stanchion element than the total number of trellis elements you need. So if you want a single facade, you'll need
to order one trellis and two stanchion elements. If your facade is going to be two elements long, you'll need two trellis elements and three stanchion elements and so on.
Stanchion element - you'll need to order one more of these than the total number of trellis elements you order
Trellis element
Each assembled facade section (one trellis and two stanchions) is 9-1/2" long (to the center of the stanchions) and is 3-3/4" tall.
Mounting Examples
For each if these examples, the facade elements were mounted using double stick foam tape. See mounting instructions here.
